▶ MEDICAL PURPOSE
Kaia COPD is a medical device for home use, based on the core components of Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Respiratory Therapy. Users receive a variety of content on physical activity, as well as active management of COPD, including exercises on relaxation and breathing techniques. In addition, the app provides education about COPD and how to manage the condition.
Who is Kaia COPD intended for?
Kaia COPD is intended for people over 18 with a diagnosis of COPD (J44.-), provided that contraindications and other causes requiring special therapy have been excluded. Kaia COPD cannot diagnose and does not replace medical advice.
Contraindications
- Advanced heart failure (I50.-), heart disease, other unexplained cardiovascular symptoms (I51.-).
- Pulmonary embolism, pulmonary artery infarction (I26.-) or deep vein thrombosis (I80.2-)
- Current infection/exacerbation with worsening respiratory distress (J44.1-)
- Pregnancy (O09.-)
Relative contraindications:
- Pre-existing musculoskeletal conditions such as herniated discs (M51.-), decreased bone density (M80.- / M81.-), or spine and large joint surgery (Z98.-)
- Neurological disorders such as recent cerebral infarction (I63.-)
- Gait unsteadiness (R26.-), frequent fall events (R29.6)
- Cardiac symptoms (I51.9) or condition after myocardial infarction (I21.-)
