SCAT Kystverket is an app used by the Norwegian Costal Administration in oil spill response operations. The app uses schemas based on the Shoreline Cleanup and Assessment Technique (SCAT) for collecting data for the shorelines during an oil spill.
The app works offline and the user uploads the collected data when an internet connection is available. A generalized shoreline and maps are downloaded upfront if needed.
The generalized shoreline is used for snapping registered assessments, segments and surface oilings to the shoreline. The data collected will then be comparable later on when surveying the shoreline again
The collected data is uploaded to the operation central where it is used in the common operational picture.
During cleanup, the people in the field can also use the app to make daily reports about the work in progress.
