Tata Engage is the corporate volunteering platform of the Tata group. The platform aims to encourage and facilitate volunteering among employees, their family members and retirees around the globe to engage with the community by contributing their time and skills. Through this initiative the Tata group clocks over a million volunteering hours annually. Tata Engage helps in curating volunteering opportunities for Tata employees, family members and retired Tata employees in two different formats – Tata Volunteering Weeks (TVWs) and ProEngage.
Each Tata Volunteering Week (TVW) is celebrated groupwide across a four-week period, twice in a year. The key objective of this initiative is to encourage and inspire Tata volunteers (employees, their family members and retirees) to experience volunteering and eventually pursue it on a regular basis. Till date, Tata Engage has successfully conducted many editions of TVW with enthusiastic participation from across geographies, in every edition. These are volunteering initiatives that run for a few hours or half a day, where groups of volunteers participate in specially curated activities by Tata companies, and Tata Engage, in partnership with non-profits.
ProEngage is the skill- based volunteering format wherein selected volunteers spend their time on weekends to work on structured projects with NGO partners, using their expertise or their managerial skills, for a one-to-six-month period. To maximise outcomes, a mandatory orientation workshop is conducted for volunteers and non-profits before the start of the project and their progress on the project is tracked and reviewed. Volunteers are advised to draw out a clear action plan, with a stringent focus on timelines and keeping the objectives in mind.
The Tata Engage mobile application is expected to increase participation and engagement multi-fold and make it easy for our employees, family members and retirees to volunteer through the Tata Engage application. It will give volunteers, company SPOCs, and non-Tata audiences more opportunities and easier access to volunteering initiatives, while on the go.
Features of the Tata Engage mobile app:
This app will encompass all the back-end and front-end features of the current Tata Engage website. Additional features of the app include:
a. Reward section: A point-based system wherein volunteers get points for the hours of they have volunteered
b. Volunteer Groups: If the individual is curating his/her own volunteering activity, he/she can create groups and add family, retirees and other Tata employees from within the database
c. Push notifications: These would go out not just when mailers go out as reminders, but also for other activities – update to the blog, update to a new badge, reminders to volunteer, new video etc.
d. Branded Volunteering Activity: Tata companies would get the opportunity to host short term, limited window, volunteering opportunities as a part of new product/brand promotions.
