Updated version with big fixes.
The HP Forest Department has decided to take up few of the plantations during the year 2018-19 Monsoon in the Month of July, in the entire state, in a Campaign mode instead of as a routine activity performed every year, and the initiative is a first of its kind in the state so far. The department has decided to take up the planting of tree species simultaneously, in the entire state on 3 consecutive days i.e. on 12th, 13th and 14th July 2018, in selected Sites numbering nearly 600 involving the other Government Departments, Local communities, public, Mahila Mandals, Panchayati Raj institutions, NGOs and School Children.
During this planting, species like Deodar, Oak, Other coniferous and Broad Leaved species which are endemic to the region will be planted in Forest, Governments lands as well as community lands. This campaign will also be celebrated with the same fervour as that of Van Mahotsava, though in addition to Van Mahotsava which will be celebrated at State Level at Rajgarh on 10th July, which otherwise used to be a routine ceremonial activity.
To effectively monitor the progress of planting of various spp. at all the places in the state and to give a wide publicity to the activity and further motivate people to participate in great numbers, and to encourage them to go for more and more planting in their vicinity, a mobile app has been got developed by the Department known as Plantation Campaign Monitoring System (PCMS) and Report system, which will be available on Google Play store free of cost and can be even downloaded by the common citizen to monitor the progress on these days from time to time.
It is expected that around 15 lakh seedlings will be planted on these days spread over the state (except Lahul, Spiti and Pangi), in 600 sites, in 160 Ranges, 41 Forest Divisions (Territorial & Wildlife),13 Circles with the active cooperation of communities. This application will track the progress of plantation campaign activity in Himachal Pradesh from time to time using the data entered by the incharge of the campaign in the Range/from the site of plantation itself, along with its exact Latitude and Longitude and a photograph also through a simple android mobile, for each site.
At the same time the cumulative progress of the activity will be monitored by the HoFF, HoD and other Dignitaries on a monitor sitting in the Forest Head quarters on real time basis from time to time. However, the access will be given to all dignitaries and public to login and watch the progress of the activity, through the Plantation Campaign Monitoring Report System (available on play store free of cost).
An individual, who is designated for doing a plantation drive will fill in the data of that plantation in the mobile application at least 4 times a day or as many number of times as possible and all the persons of higher authority and common citizen can view this data to keep track of the same or draw relevant inferences from the progress. Also that a list of all the sites, their location, names of in-charges of the site, and their contact numbers are displayed on the Departmental site to enable all citizens to contact them, for participation at a site nearest to their home. For further details may please contact the undersigned in case of any difficulty in operation of these applications (apps).
