Klondike Solitaire is played with a standard 52-card deck without a joker. After shuffling, 7 decks of cards are dealt from left to right. From left to right, each pile contains one more card than before. There is one face down in the first and leftmost piles, two cards in the second pile (one down, one up), and three cards in the third pile (two cards down and one up) , and so on, in the seventh pile there are 7 cards (6 cards down, 1 up). The top card of each pile is turned face up. The remaining cards form the stock and are placed face up in the upper left corner of the layout.
The four foundations (the bright rectangle in the top right of the picture) consist of one suit, from ace (low in this game) to king, and the table pile can be built down in different colors. Any face cards in the partial pile or the whole pile may be moved to another table pile in units based on the highest card. The empty pile can be filled with a king or king card pile. The goal of the game is to stack 4 stacks of cards, starting with an ace and ending with a king, on one of the 4 foundations, all in the same suit, in which case the player wins.
