The stage is now set for the Super 4 clash in the Asia Cup 2022. The first fixture in the Super 4’s will be between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka in the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on 3rd September 2022. After defeating Bangladesh in a close contest, Sri Lanka successfully confirmed its berth in the Super 4s and joined India and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan has become the last side to enter.
Afghanistan faced Sri Lanka earlier in the tournament where they defeated the Lankan Lions by eight wickets in a low-scoring match. With a win against Sri Lanka, Afghanistan kicked off its campaign in the tournament and then subsequently went on to defeat Bangladesh as well.
The Mohammad Nabi-led Afghanistan has enough strength to once again trump Sri Lanka and block their way further. Bowling has been Afghanistan’s strength. The likes of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have been outstanding in their execution.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka would look to extend its winning run and avenge their loss against Afghanistan. The Lankans certainly are experienced and know what it takes to lift the title.
