Lobolo is a custom cultivated to this day in southern Mozambique. According to this tradition, the bride's family receives money for the loss that represents their marriage and the move to another home.
The lobolo tradition has been the subject of many controversies in Mozambique. Even after independence, which tried to devalue the old customs, the lobolo took revenge and many young people also begin to value this ceremony.
