First version of iPoint navigation assistant.
Do you just want to know the direction and distance to your point of interest, without trying to work it out from street directions?
iPoint allows you to search for a point of interest in your vicinity, and see immediately the way you must face to reach your destination.
Follow these steps:
1) Touch the magnifying-glass icon on the top RHS of the screen
2) Enter your point-of-interest
3) Notice the large arrow that appears in the centre of the screen, showing the distance
4) Rotate your phone so that the large arrow points to the top of the screen
5) Touch the small arrow next to the magnifying-glass icon at the top of the screen
6) The map should now rotate to show your orientation to the target
Now you should be able to work out which way you need to walk to reach your destination. If your destination is long way, you might need to repeat the above steps a few times.
IMPORTANT: You might need to calibrate your device compass before using the app. This is achieved by moving your phone in a figure 8 pattern a few times. Also, there are some apps on Play Store that can check the status of your compass.
Also, this app relies on your device compass to show the direction to the target. These compasses are not very accurate, so you should only rely on this app to give an approximate direction to the target.
WARNING: Do not try to use this app whilst driving!
