GGD Contact is the official app for source and contact research by the GGDs in the Netherlands, developed by GGD GHOR Netherlands and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. The app is intended for use in the Netherlands only. The use of the app is entirely voluntary.
You use GGD Contact if a test shows you are infected with the coronavirus. In that case it is important that we alert the people in your surroundings as soon as possible. This prevents them from passing the virus on to others before they themselves know that they may be infected. The GGD does source and contact research to alert your contacts. This research would usually take you and the GGD a lot of time on the phone. Thanks to the GGD Contact app, this can now be done a lot faster.
How does the app work?
You can use the app before or after the GGD calls you for the source and contact research. With the app you can easily determine which contacts might be infected and collect their data. Then you can see right away in the app which rules apply per person. For example, if it is necessary for someone to stay at home or to get tested. It is important that your contacts know what to do as soon as possible. This way we can control the spread of the coronavirus together.
In several test regions, you can now share your collected data directly with the GGD for the source and contact research.
How does the app handle your data?
With GGD Contact you can easily collect data from your contacts. Such as names, phone numbers and the length of encounters. The GGD always asks you for this information during the source and contact investigation. Thanks to the app, you can now share this data faster than via a telephone conversation with a GGD employee. All the data you collect is stored on your phone only. The data is secured and the GGD can only view it once you share it.
