Hrithik Roshan (Hindi: ऋतिक रोशन [ˈrɪtɪk ˈroːʃən]; (born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, 10 January 1974; age 46 years) is an Indian actor who plays in the Bollywood film industry.
After appearing as a child actor in the 1980s, Roshan made her film debut as a leading role in the film Kaho Naa ... Pyaar Hai (2000) which earned her the Filmfare Awards for Best Actor and Best Male Debut. In 2001, he appeared in the Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham melodrama, which became the best-selling Indian film in foreign markets. In 2003, he again starred in Koi ... Mil Gaya and his sequel, Krrish, which was commercially successful and in these two films, Roshan won numerous awards as Best Actor. Roshan received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the third time in 2006 for her performance in the film Dhoom 2, which achieved the biggest commercial success at the time. He later received critical acclaim for his performance in Jodhaa Akbar, and received his first international award at the Golden Minbar International Film Festival. This achievement has made him a leading contemporary actor in Hindi cinema. He then received more praise for his work in Guzaarish (2010), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Agneepath (2012) and Krrish 3 (2013). He recently announced separation from his wife, Sussanne after 13 years of marriage.
Roshan was known as a child artist when she was six years old in the 1980s film, Aasha. Roshan continued to play minor roles in the films Aap Ke Deewane (1980) and Bhagwan Dada (1986) both of which starred his father, Rakesh Roshan as the main character. He then became assistant director helping with his father's film production, namely Karan Arjun (1995) and Koyla (1997).
In 2000, Roshan made her film debut as the main character in the film Kaho Naa ... Pyaar Hai alongside other actresses, Amisha Patel. The film was directed by his father and proved very successful in theaters, and became the best-selling film in 2000 and won the Filmfare Best Movie Award. Roshan's performance was well received and the film made her a star. He finally received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Actor and Best Actor in his role. The film entered the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for the most awards won by a film, which is 102 awards
Roshan was born in Mumbai to a film family. His father, film director Rakesh Roshan is the son of Roshan's music director, while his mother, Pinky, is the daughter of producer and director J. Om Prakash. Hrithik has an older sister named Sunaina. His uncle, Rajesh Roshan is a famous music director. As a child, Roshan attended Bombay Scottish School. He then entered Sydenham College, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in commerce.
During the interview, he revealed that his childhood was traumatized by stuttering, a disability that emerged when he was around six years old and is miserable even today. But he said that things improved gradually, after he began practicing speech therapy every day.
Roshan is married to Suzanne Roshan, owner of Suzanne Roshan's House of Design and is the daughter of actor Sanjay Khan. The couple has two sons, Hrehaan who was born in 2006 and Hridhaan who was born in 2008. Roshan has two thumbs on his right hand. Usually this is hidden in his films, but not in Koi ... Mil Gaya, and even used as a small plot point, where the alien is also designed to have two thumbs.
On December 13, 2013, Hrithik announced that his wife, Susanne had decided to separate and end the 17-year relationship.
