Sealoc is an innovative platform, delivering map renderings in high resolution of maritime-forecast datasets. The Sealoc application presents forecast maps on the Mediterranean Sea and delivers high resolution data of the Greek Seas.
We provide the following datasets:
1. Wind speed and direction forecast (in-house calculation).
2. Prediction of sea waves (wavewatch3 model)
3. Direction and speed of surface waves (Copernicus marine)
4. Prediction of sea surface salinity (Copernicus marine)
5. Sea surface and underwater temperature forecast (Copernicus marine)
6. Seabed temperature forecast (Copernicus marine)
7. Forecast of sea surface elevation (Copernicus marine)
8. Prediction of dissolved oxygen in the water (Copernicus marine)
9. Prediction of nitrates concentration in the water (Copernicus marine)
10. Prediction of phosphates concentration in the water (Copernicus marine)
11. Prediction of carbon concentration as an indicator of phytoplankton biomass in the water (Copernicus marine).
12. Prediction of surface and underwater currents (upto 203m, Copernicus marine)
Additional cartographic layers are made available following a simple registration process for swimming, surfing and sailing use. When 'tapping' on a map, location-specified data gets projected.Our data resolution in the Aegean Sea is 2x2 kms, 6x6 kms in the remaining Greek seas - and 18x18kms in the Mediterranean sea space.
The project is financed by European and Greek national funds (Cycle A, EPANEK 2014-2020) and is implemented by two companies, Omikron Environmental Consultants SA and Draxis Environmental Technologies SA -- with Omikron being the lead partner and responsible for the implementation of the Sealoc platform.
The system presents both in-house generated forecasts, as well as external data forecasts from the European Base Copernicus Marine Service.
The in-house forecast models (wind speed forecast, sea surface wave forecast) are being calculated by servers of the two beneficiary companies; calculations are executed daily, deliverering a forecast window of three (3) days and a forecast time step of one (1) hour.
The external forecast data comes from the European database Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS). Datasets are derived both from satellite sources and computer models. A time forecast period of three (3) days is utilized -- and an hourly or daily forecast step, depending on the associated forecast variable involved.
Supported platforms include mobile phones and tablets.
