Isabel Myers and her mother, Catherine Briggs, were both interested in the theory of Jungian personality types and realized that this theory could have applications in the real world. During World War II, Myers and Briggs developed an index that could be used to identify individual differences. They believed that if they designed a test to get to know people better, they could choose things to do with their personality and live healthier and happier lives.
Myers created the first paper version of this test in the 1940s. He and his mother performed the test on friends and family. They developed the test two decades later.

Based on the answers given to the MBTI test, people have one of 16 personality types. The goal is for people to better discover and understand their personality traits, including interests, strengths, weaknesses, potential job priorities, and compatibility with others.
No one has the "best" character and no one is "better" than the other person. Also, this test does not look for differences or abnormalities; Instead, its just about knowing more about you.
