Download now this edition also called the 1917 Church Bible or Gustaf V’s Bible. It was translated by a Royal Bible commission appointed by the King Gustavus III in 1773.
Several tentatives of translation were rejected until the latest version was approved. The work took 144 years and the final result was a new Bible in 1917. It has the approval of the Swedish Church, confirmed by the ultimate authority, the King. This version replaced officially all other published translations.
The aim of this project was to use natural modern Swedish and create an easily intelligible version, using modern words and expressions.
