ATVP is a mobile application to be deployed in the Athirappilly region under the Athirapally Tribal Valley Agricultural Project as tool to assist in the project objective of improving the livelihood of Tribal farmers through the adoption of better farming practices, better output from unit farm area, organic and rainforest certified products, value addition of farm products, etc.
The ATVP is designed to be effective in handling ST farmers residing deep inside the Athirappilly-Vazhachal forest ranges where internet connectivity is very poor. The project is implemented through a Farmer’s Producer Organization (FPO). They will be supported in produce procurement and marketing.
Smallholder farmers are plagued with access to technology, low productivity, unavailability of quality agriculture inputs, poor market linkages, less or no access to credit, and scattered in formation of good agricultural practices, commodity pricing trends, local weather, soil, and pests. To increase the profitability of farmers by a three-pronged approach of reducing the cost of farming, improved yields and better price for the harvested produce is required.
