ব্যারিস্টার মওদুদ আহমেদ বাংলাদেশের সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী। এর আগে উপ-প্রধানমন্ত্রী হিসেবেও দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল (বিএনপি) ও জাতীয় পার্টির প্রতিষ্ঠাতাদের অন্যতম। অষ্টম জাতীয় সংসদে আইন ও বিচার বিষয়ক মন্ত্রনালয়ের মন্ত্রী ছিলেন প্রবীণ এই রাজনীতিবিদ। বর্তমানে তিনি বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির একজন সদস্য।
মওদুদ আহমেদের জন্ম ১৯৪০ সালের ২৪ মে নোয়াখালী জেলার কোম্পানিগঞ্জ উপজেলায়। তার বাবা মমতাজ উদ্দিন আহমেদ এবং মা বেগম আম্বিয়া খাতুন। ছয় ভাইবোনের মধ্যে মওদুদ আহমেদ চতুর্থ। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে সম্মান পাশ করে বৃটেনের লন্ডনস্থ লিঙ্কন্স ইন থেকে ব্যারিস্টার ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন তিনি। লন্ডনে পড়াশোনা করে দেশে ফিরে নিজেকে আইন পেশায় নিয়োজিত করেন। এছাড়া তিনি ব্লান্ড ভিজিটিং প্রফেসর হিসেবে জর্জ ওয়াশিংটন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে কর্মরত ছিলেন তিনি।
Moudud Ahmed is a well-known Bangladeshi politician and lawyer. He served as Deputy Prime Minister, Prime Minister and Vice President of Bangladesh. Moudud assisted to Ziaur Rahman and Ershad founding their respective political parties. Perhaps he is the only politician who gets the facilities from major two political parties BNP and Jatiyo Party. Finally, he finds his comfort zone in BNP under the leading of Khaleda Zia. He won the Parliamentary election for five times from Noakhali-5, the same constituency of Obaidul Quader.
Moudud Ahmed Early Life:
Moudud Ahmed was born on May 24, 1940, in Companiganj Upazila, Noakhali during the British Raj. His father Maulana Mamataj Uddin Ahmed was an Islamic scholar and the mother Ambiya Khatun was a housewife. He completed BA and MA from the University of Dhaka in Political Science. In 1966, he was called to the English Bar at Lincoln’s Inn.
Moudud Ahmed Career:
After returning home, he joined the legal team of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for the Agartala Conspiracy Case trial in 1968. Following the year, he accompanied with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Round Table Conference with Field Marshal Ayub Khan in Rawalpindi. He also joined the Provisional Government of Bangladesh in Calcutta during the liberation war. He became the leading barrister in the post-independence year. In December 1974, he was jailed on order of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman but later released.
Political Career:
Moudud Ahmed was a minister and adviser of Ziaur Rahman government. He was elected Member of Parliament for the first time in 1979 and became the Deputy Prime Minister.
