1. Chandrasekara Ashtakam was composed by Sage Markandeya, son of Mrikandu, who was fear struck with death, in the temple of Lord Shiva. He who reads this prayer will not have the fear of death,have full healthy life with all gains and all wealth, and Lord Shiva will give him salvation at the end. This hymn to Lord Shiva removes fear of death and accidents in life.
2. Vishwanatha Ashtakam was composed by Adi Shankaracharya. Kashi is also known as Avimukta, which means it is never forsaken by Lord Shiva. The Vishwanathashtakam is a chant composed in praise of Kashi Vishwanatha, the Lord of All.
