Asparagus. This vegetable is a mild diuretic so it can be beneficial for helping to control. You can add some flavor to it by steaming it and adding some olive oil to it.

Oolong Tea. This tea can be a beneficial for someone with type 2 diabetes when taken with hypoglycemic drugs.In 2003 a study was done in Taiwan where some adults with diabetes were given 6 cups of water and the others were given 6 cups of oolong tea along with their blood glucose lowering medications. The results were that those who drank the 6 cups of oolong tea significantly reduced their glucose levels compared to those who drank 6 cups of water.

Vinegar. Diabetes can often cause leg cramps. To help relieve those aches, add 8 ounces of apple vinegar to your next hot bath and soak for about 15-20 minutes.

Parsley. Take some parsley and steep it into a hot cup of tea. It can also act as a diuretic and lower blood sugar.

Salt. Sometimes a person with diabetes will get dry, itchy skin. To help relieve this, first try soaking in a tub of salty water. This will help to soften the skin. After that, shower off and then rub some salt all over your skin while it's still wet. This will help to remove the dry skin from your body.

Watercress. Watercress is a mild diuretic and can help to strengthen the defense systems.

These are just a few home remedies for diabetes that can help control the symptoms. If you are a diabetic, make sure you eat on a regular schedule and get plenty of exercise, as it helps to lower the blood sugar.
