The James Cox Gallery was established in 1990 in Woodstock, NY by veteran art dealer, James Cox, formerly director of New York's venerable Grand Central Art Galleries (Est. 1922). The gallery's year-round services include exhibitions, publishing, appraisals, estate management, and cultural events. Beginning in 1991, the gallery began hosting annual fine art auctions. Cox, a graduate of The Reppert School of Auctioneering, served as the auctioneer at these live events. Today the gallery holds two auction events annually, including an online-only sale hosted on multiple online bidding platforms. Extra care is taken to curate these sales for quality, condition, artistic merit, and value. These diverse auctions feature paintings, sculpture, fine prints, photography, objets d'art, and pieces of unique historical value. 95% of each cataloged sale is sold with no reserve, a feature that has generated a wide national and international following.
